The game builds upon and expands on the world and concepts of the original, offering a unique combination of party-based MMO and action-RPG without the rigidity usually associated with these games. You can switch your class as many times as you want, and you can also add pawns, NPCs that fight alongside you, to your party. As you travel between big cities, you become familiar with the roads. It helps to make the world more familiar. It creates an interesting mix of hack-and -slash battles that you can customize with your class and tactics, and big-scale Shadow of the Colossus or Monster Hunter style boss fights. You’ll also be tackling quests that are specific to the characters who populate these cities. The main plot is a conspiracy, but there are smaller conflicts and more human ones.
